Cleaner Production (CP) is an audit process that involves six (6) steps and 18 tasks that need to be followed. The objective of each step is as described below.
Step 1: Getting Started: CP audit planning and management includes determining the CP audit team, listing key processes and selecting the CP audit focus.
Step 2: Initial Assessment: Provide a complete process flow chart to determine audit focus and then implement a material and energy balance to identify the source, quantity of waste and cost.
Step 3: Generating CP Options: Identification of potential Cleaner Production opportunities and preliminary selection of workable CP opportunities.
Step 4: Feasibility Analysis: Technical and financial evaluation as well as environmental requirements on CP options to determine the technological and economic suitability of a CP option.
Step 5: Implementing and monitoring CP Options: Preparations for the implementation of feasible CP options and methods of monitoring on targeted achievements.
Step 6: Sustaining CP: The need for human resources and strategies to sustain the CP program and the selection of a new CP audit focus.
Based on the methods mentioned above, it is important to choose a planned and organized approach so that the implementation of CP is more effective while providing space and flexibility for unforeseen situations
